Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between smartphone addiction and insomnia in adolescents and to determine the predictive role of mindfulness and resistance to peer influence in this relationship. This study was conducted as a relational survey model. The sample of the study consisted of 370 students from different high schools in Konya in the 2022-2023 academic year. According to the findings obtained from the analysis, smartphone addiction of adolescents predicted insomnia positively and significantly, whereas resistance to peer influence predicted smartphone addiction negatively and significantly. Finally, mindfulness predicted resistance to peer influence positively and significantly. On the contrary, it predicted smartphone addiction and insomnia negatively and significantly. Taken as a whole, the findings suggested that as adolescents' mindfulness increased, they were able to resist peer influence more and thus their risk of smartphone addiction due to peer influence decreased. Ultimately, mindfulness and resistance to peer influence had both direct and indirect roles in reducing insomnia problems that might arise due to smartphone addiction. The findings are discussed within the framework of the literature and recommendations are presented for researchers and practitioners.

UYKUSUZLUK, AKILLI TELEFON BAĞIMLILIĞI, BİLİNÇLİ FARKINDALIK VE AKRAN ETKİSİNE DİRENME ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİLER
