Abstract

It was aimed to investigate the effects of menstrual cycle phases on exercise performance, body temperature and fatigue levels in moderately active young women. The research consists of 17 physically active young women (20.41±1.87 years) residing in the province of Iğdır. Female participants were asked to report the last 3 months of their menstrual cycle. Expected ovulation dates based on average menstrual cycle (days) were calculated by the research coordinator. In this study, the urinary LH method was used in addition to the self-reported calendar-based menstrual cycle. After the menstrual cycle phases (Late follicular, ovulation and mid luteal) were determined, exercise performance test, body temperature and fatigue levels were measured from the participants in all three phases. The obtained data was used in the SPSS 23.0 package program, with repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). The confidence interval was chosen as 95% and values below p<0.05 were considered statistically significant. When the exercise performance, body temperature and fatigue values of the menstrual cycle phases were examined, a significant difference was found between the peak power and average power values among the exercise performance test values, while no difference was observed in the other values. It has been observed that ovulation phase affects peak and mean power values from exercise performance values in moderately active young women.

Orta Düzeyde Aktif Genç Kadınlarda Menstrual Döngü Fazlarının Egzersiz Performansı, Vücut Sıcaklığı ve Yorgunluk Düzeyleri Üzerine Etkisi
