Bibliometric Analysis of Epigenetic Studies Conducted on Herbicide Resistance

Abstract

Herbicide resistance can result from the frequent and repeated use of herbicides with the same mechanism of action against the target weed for many consecutive years. Weeds that develop resistance to herbicides are a major concern in modern agriculture, leading to an unmanageable weed problem and increasing costs. Recently, it has been suggested that herbicide resistance in weeds may also be influenced by epigenetic processes. Therefore, several studies have been conducted to investigate whether herbicide resistance is related to epigenetics. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of epigenetic studies on herbicide resistance using the Scopus database with the R program. In this context, 37 publications were obtained by searching the Scopus database with the keywords "Epigenetics and Weed". As a result of the search with the keywords "Epigenetics and Herbicide resistance", 14 publications were obtained. As a result of the analysis, epigenetic studies on herbicide resistance were published between 2009 and 2022 and 57% of these publications consisted of research articles. The countries with the highest number of publications were the USA and the Czech Republic, and the country with the highest number of citations was Australia. Among the authors who published on this subject, 5 of them published two publications and the others published one publication each. The most frequently used keyword was herbicide resistance. The word weed was used as a keyword 2 times.

Herbisitlere Dayanıklılık ile İlgili Yapılan Epigenetik Çalışmaların Bibliyometrik Analizi

Abstract

Herbisitlere dayanıklılık, hedef yabancı ota karşı üst üste uzun yıllar aynı etki mekanizmasına sahip herbisitlerin, sık ve tekrar kullanılmandan ortaya çıkabilmektedir. Herbisitlere dayanıklılık oluşturan yabancı otlar, modern tarımda önemli bir endişe kaynağı olup baş edilemez bir yabancı ot problemini beraberinde getirilmesine ve maliyetlerin de arttırılmasına yol açmaktadır. Son zamanlarda, yabancı otlarda herbisitlere dayanıklılığının da epigenetik süreçlerden etkilenebileceği öne sürülmektedir. Bu nedenle herbisitlere dayanıklılığının epigenetik ile ilişkili olup olmadığını araştırmak için çeşitli çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışma R programı aracığı ile Scopus veri tabanını kullanarak herbisitlere dayanıklılık ile ilgili yapılan epigenetik çalışmaların bibliyometrik analizinin yapılması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda Scopus veri tabanında “Epigenetik ve Yabancı ot” anahtar kelimeleri ile yapılan aramada 37 yayın elde edilmiştir. “Epigenetik ve Herbisitlere dayanıklılık” anahtar kelimeleri ile yapılan arama sonucunda ise 14 yayın elde edilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda herbisitlere dayanıklılık ile ilgili yapılan epigenetik çalışmaların 2009- 2022 yılları arasında yayımlandığı ve bu yayınların %57’sinin araştırma makalelerinden oluştuğu görülmektedir. En fazla yayın yapan ülkeler ABD ve Çek Cumhuriyeti, en fazla atıf alan ülke ise Avustralya olmuştur. Bu konuda yayın yapan yazarlardan 5’i ikişer yayın, diğerleri ise birer yayın yapmışlardır. En fazla kullanılan anahtar kelime ise herbisitlere dayanıklılık olmuştur. Yabancı ot kelimesi ise 2 defa anahtar kelime olarak kullanılmıştır.
