JOURNAL OF BALKAN AND BLACK SEA STUDIES

Journal of Balkan and Black Sea Studies (ISSN 2667-470X) is an interdisciplinary journal focusing on the humanities and social sciences of the Balkan countries and the former Soviet republics. It welcomes contributions in the fields of history, economics, politics, international relations, culture, art, geography, literature, theology, ethnography, and environmental sciences.

The aim of the journal is to promote a cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary approach to issues of regional significance. In this context, the journal aspires to serve as an academic platform for scholars engaging with both historical and contemporary topics across a broad spectrum of cross-regional concerns. It also seeks to provide a conceptual and methodological framework for comparative investigations that enhance our understanding of Balkan and Black Sea societies, political systems, and communities. Manuscripts that connect the region to broader global or technological contexts are also welcome.

The journal has been published online twice a year since its inception in 2018, and themed issues are planned. Submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Submissions should not exceed 8,000 words and will undergo anonymous peer review by at least two members of the scientific committee. The inclusion of color graphics and images is encouraged, subject to reasonable limitations. Authors are responsible for obtaining any necessary copyright permissions.

Submissions are accepted in English and Turkish. Articles in other languages may occasionally be considered. All articles must include an abstract of 100-200 in English.
