The building sector has an important share in energy consumption in our country and in the world, considering the construction and usage stages. This situation has led to the need to make the buildings energy efficient. There are two methods for transforming existing structures into energy efficient. First is the method of demolishing and rebuilding the existing building, and the other is the improvement of the existing building in line with the appropriate energy efficient design criteria. In this study, the heating energy of an existing building was analyzed by means of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and BEM (Building Energy Modeling). Passive and active systems have been examined and the use of renewable energy has been evaluated, with reference to their applicability in buildings. As passive systems, the building; the effect of alternatives having different U values on their windows and outer walls on the heating energy was investigated. PV panels were added to the structure as active systems, high efficiency systems were preferred in the HVAC operating system and the simulation results were examined.
