BUZAĞILARIN BESLENMELERİNDE ETKİNLİĞİN BELİRLENMESİ: STOKASTİK SINIR ANALİZİ UYGULAMASI

Year 2012, Volume: 16 Issue: 1, 55 - 61, 20.02.2014

Abstract

DETERMINATION OF FEEDING EFFICIENCY OF CALVES: A STOCHASTIC FRONTIER ANALYSIS APPLICATION

Year 2012, Volume: 16 Issue: 1, 55 - 61, 20.02.2014

Abstract

In this study was aimed to determine the feed efficiencyof calves. The data used in the research owned by 45 calves including Brown Swiss and Holstein Friesian races were feed with milk and commercial concentrate during weaning period. Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) was used to measure the efficiency In SFA, Cobb-Douglas Production function was used. Live weight gain of calves was the output of model. . Two inputs (commercial concentrated feed and milk intaking to them during weaning period)and six inefficiency variables ((race of calve, gender of calve, borning weight, weaning weight, intaking period of milk and milk quantity intaking) were used in SFA. It was founded that the parameters of weaning weight and intaking period of milk were statistically significant. However, The estimated parameters of efficiency showed that weaning weight positively affected to the efficiency, while intaking period of milk negatively affected.
