Ergin Ulutaş was born in 1973. He was received his PhD from Kocaeli University. His PhD thesis is on " Seismic Microzonation of Kocaeli and İzmit settlement area" He worked in European Union Joint Research Center, Ispra/Italy as an visiting scholar granted by TUBITAK for developing Tsunami Early Warning Systems from Pre-defined Fault Source Models. In 2013, he has been granted as a visiting scientist from YÖK (Turkish Council of Higher Education) to work in an Italian Flag Tsunami Project for Adriatic Sea named RITMARE. He has published international papers related on tsunamis for on the shores of Japan, Chile and Indonesia. He is still working as an associate professor at the Department of Geophysical Engineering in Kocaeli University.
